Last stop of the summer tour was Phish @ Dick’s. This is my 6th year seeing Phish, my 19th show. I’m loving them more. Right now, I think they’re my #1. Not to say I don’t love the rest of my music, I do. But I’m in a Phish trance.
I got turned onto Phish from my buddies Tommy P. and Tommy K. I’m forever grateful to both. I love them both, don’t know what I’d have done without them.
Tommy P. moved to Maui 3 years ago – but we’re always connected. This year he came back to go to Phish with me. Tommy is my goto source for Phish, I think he’s been to 90 Phish shows.
Each year at Dick’s Phish plays for 3 nights over Labor Day. Phish Phans say Dick’s is the highlight of their summer. Dick’s is a great venue, perfect for Phish.
This year there was no camping, because of a Prairie Dog thing. I was cool with that. But I brought the HIPEVAN anyway. Everyone loves the HIPEVAN, it’s groovy. Tommy’s first Phish show in the HIPEVAN, so I paid it forward and turned him on.
Phish shows are similar to Dead shows, in that there’s a Shakedown scene. The Phish Shakedown scene doesn’t go off like a Dead Shakedown, but Phish isn’t the Dead. Phish is Phish. Normally the Shakedown scene at Dick’s is much more vibrant and happening. But the Prairie Dog thing threw things off this year.
I can’t explain a Phish show to you. You have to go. The Phish light show is the best I’ve ever seen. And it keeps getting better. Note to self: figure out how to take better iPhone pics.
Watch this iPhone video of “Steal Time From the Faulty Plan” to see the lights live. They’re the best.
But of course you don’t go to a show for the lights, you go for the music. Here’s a few tunes from the Sunday night show.

If you love music, go see a Phish show.

You know you are good when you get down on the floor with a peach Snapple bottle wrapper as a wrist band! Great times with you Hoorah! This was definitely not The Final Hoorah!
