The title of my post is from page 42 of Chapo Guide To Revolution – A Manifesto Against Logic, Facts, And Reason by Chapo Trap House. The quote is right on. The shit has already hit the fan, it just hasn’t hit you in the face yet. Read this book if you’re interested in how we got here and what’s ahead if big change doesn’t happen soon.
I read former President Obama is backing a fantastic new Netflix film, American Factory. I watched it. It’s the most important film I’ve seen in…Right now I can’t think of another film I’ve watched recently that rocked me the way it did. American Factory is the zeitgeist, a must-watch-film if you’re interested in understanding the plight of the American worker.
Obama said this about American Factory:
“A good story gives you the chance to better understand someone else’s life. It can help you find common ground. And it’s why Michelle and I were drawn to Higher Ground’s first film, American Factory. Take a look at our conversation with the directors, and check it out on Netflix.”
If Obama is talking about compromise again, what he ran on in 2008, he’s full of it. There is no compromise. It’s way past time for people to rise up, stand up.
If you want to see how American workers have been lied to, how American tax payers have been conned, how governments are in on the lie and con, how American workers have become political pawns, watch this film. The film isn’t editorial, it’s the voices of the workers. The entire narrative is the workers. If you watch this film and still believe in Republicans, then you get the future you deserve.
Watch every minute of this film. The last 5 minutes are riveting. From the film:
“Up to 375 million people globally will need to find entirely new kinds of jobs by 2030 because of automation. How workers, governments, and business tackle these seismic shifts will define the future of work”.
Count out government – or at least the one we have now. The Trump Party doesn’t believe in workers rights, health insurance, benefits, or regulations. They’re against unions and the little guy. So if you’re voting Republican, don’t count on their help unless you’re rich.
Count out business too. Business is all about maximizing shareholder value which means lowest possible costs – read: low wages and no benefits. Thanks to the high cost of free, Americans have been brainwashed into thinking lowest cost is a good thing. Americans have skipped, whistled, and smiled on their way to the gallows.
To understand business, their devotion to shareholder value, read this book by Steven Pearlstein:
Can American Capitalism Survive? Why Greed Is Not Good, Opportunity Is Not Equal, And Fairness Won’t Make Us Poor
So what’s left? Who’s going to save us? It’s we the people. We’re all we have left.
Right now there’s only two candidates with solid plans to make life better for all Americans – Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
Bernie just released his climate crisis plan. Please read it. His plan will create economic opportunity that makes the Internet seem small comparatively. Warren once worked for Bernie, her plans are also centered around prosperity for all – not just those at the top.
What’s the Republicans plan? Nothing. Oh. Make coal great again. And tax cuts to the rich. Same plan they’ve had for 50 years. They’re all about the rhythm method, watching the Amazon burn (it’s God’s will) in their horse and buggy while being served cocktails by contracted servants making minimum wage.
Here’s your clue how right Warren and Sanders are. By this time next summer, Trump and the Republicans will be calling us (because I’m with Warren and Sanders) communists. They’ll be violence. People will be murdered. It’ll all be orchestrated by the Trump Party bosses.
There’s no compromise. Stop trying to convince people who disagree – they’ll either see the light on their own, or not. There’s nothing to do other than being kind, respectful, and civil. Agree to disagree, they’re Americans too.
Instead, the #1 focus should be winning elections. Getting people to vote for hopefully, Warren or Sanders. 1A is turning the Senate Blue. Democrats need to pick up 4 seats in 2020 to control the Senate.
Please watch American Factory. Please get off social media and read the two books I linked to. American Factory is on Netflix, clocks just under 2 hours. If you don’t have a Netflix account, sign up for a free trial. Watching the movie won’t cost you a penny. Each book will take you about a week to read.
BTW, Obama. You just purchased a $15 million pad in Martha’s Vineyard. I was there in Grant Park when you were elected. We gave you money. We volunteered. Why the fuck aren’t you making American Factory available for free, for those who don’t have a Netflix account? For those who helped you buy your phat new pad? This is what pisses me off about you. You and your Harvard pals made bank on our backs. Seems to me you’re now the party of Oprah. You do just enough to keep you in the headlines but not enough to hurt your income.
People. Don’t watch American Factory or the read these two books for me. Do it for yourself, your children, their children and our country.
