Poop duty is a big deal when you have 2 big dogs. Renee and I have had 2 big dogs since we moved in together, in 1998. First Bullmastiff’s — now Italian Mastiff’s, aka Cane Corso’s.
When we first moved here in 2002 our backyard was covered in snow from late October till mid April. Poop duty stopped late October, can’t pick up poop that’s buried in snow. Poop duty started mid April — snow is gone, weekly poop duty resumes.
A few years ago I started keeping mental notes about poop duty. Each year since because the snow is coming later and melting sooner, poop duty lasts longer and starts earlier.
This year we had mostly rain — I was worried poop duty would start in February!
Poop duty nearly did start in February, because the snow has been gone for over a week. Renee started nudging me last week to start poop duty.
Climate change is happening, the planet is warming, winters are shorter. Look no further than my poop duty theory.
I’ll be thinking ’bout this and a whole lot more, while raking up doggie poop today.

Still picking up dog poop. I’ve never picked up dog poop this late. Never.
So I’m picking up dog poop later than ever. Which means the snow is coming later, which means Winter isn’t as long.
Anyone who doesn’t believe that climate change is real and that it’s being caused by humans is a dumb ass.

Just picked up doggie poop. Never, have I picked up doggie poop in January.

A new low for poop duty. Never, ever, have picked up poop in February. But there’s more. My yard is poop free. That’s also a new low. So it’s February 1 2018. Poop is all picked up. It might as well be May. And, zero snow in the yard.
Rain is predicted for Beaver Creek next week.
