Was proud to join others today to protest oil and gas drilling here in CO.
Hundreds swarm BLM auction in Lakewood to protest oil, gas drilling
I get it — we need petroleum for our cell phones, clothes, and just about everything else. But I’ve studied both sides of this issue for a few years now. I’m not suggesting we turn off oil and gas rigs. What I am saying let’s put our efforts elsewhere. With what we know now, I don’t think it makes any sense to continue with oil and gas investment. Instead, I think all our efforts should be headed towards renewables, fusion, and TWR (traveling wave reactor).
I don’t want an oil and gas rig in mine or my neighbors backyard. I don’t want one anywhere near where my son plays, the food or water I eat and drink.
If we raise fuel efficiency standards, increase public transportation, increase ride sharing, and make more electric cars we’ll use less gas. If we use less gas then we don’t have to drill near as much. Then while we’re using less gas, we’re working on getting ourselves off of fossil fuels.
Saturday I’m driving back to Denver to continue protesting. Here’s a few pics and a video from today.
