Having 2 months of grocery bills over $1000.00 brings back the question, “Is eating organic and beyond organic more expensive”?
I know I’ve been writing that eating the way we do isn’t more expensive. But time is the only true measure.
Renee and I talked about it. For us, eating this way definitely costs more. Yeah sure, a person could eat beans and rice every day and not spend much money. But who can do that? Nobody.
Yes, we could certainly lower our food cost if we were willing to buy more from City Market versus Natural Grocers, not support farm to table like we do. But we’re not. As long as we can, we’re going to continue to support Big B’s and farm to table. And our costs would definitely be lower if we lived in the city, because everything is more expensive up here in the mountains.
For us, we’ve accepted that eating this way is going to cost more. But we consider it an investment in the planet and our health.
Rather than trying to fight mother nature, Jonez over the costs, we accept what is. We’ll see how we do in November.
