I’ve always admired Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO. I think he belongs in the same mention as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. I think what Amazon has done is nothing short of genius.
Amazon has changed how we shop. They’ve made the world a better place and they’ve done it the right way — by putting the customer first. Amazon’s philosophy has always been about the customer and the customer’s experience. From One Click, Amazon Prime, now same day delivery (in some areas), Amazon’s customers come first.
The Kindle Fire HDX with Mayday is a brilliant tablet. Mayday, is yet another disruptive service from Amazon. It will force the rest of the tablet makers to up their support offering.
Amazon Web Services is a great service that saves businesses money. Because with AWS, a business doesn’t need their own software or servers. They can get both from Amazon while saving money and the hassle of dealing with software and servers.
Now Amazon has ideas to deliver products to our door via drones. Brilliant. It’ll happen, you watch (pun intended).
Amazon has forced change, is forcing change, and that’s a good thing. Because of Amazon, retailers can no longer get away with average customer service or average products. To anyone who says Amazon puts people out of business I say what Bezos does in this great piece — “Complaining is not a strategy”.
If you’re a retailer, your plans better include how you’re going to compete against Amazon. If you’re a business, use AWS — you’ll save money. If you’re a startup, or a business person, following what Amazon does is a solid blueprint for success.
