In Vail and Aspen a lot of “locals” want to measure someone else by how long they’ve been here. Every freaking conversation with another “local” has to start with, “how long you been up here”?
Here’s a tip. When a “local” asks where you’re from it’s not because they care — it’s so they can tell you they live up here.
And around Vail, front range skiers have always been thought of as riff raff. Just ask Kay Ferry.
BTW, Vail is one big blue run.
I even got caught up in this bs – except the front range thing.
The next time some “local” asks me where I’m from my answer is Denver. In fact from here on out, I’m from Denver.
Because Denver is where I grew up. I bleed orange. Our first Bullmastiff was named Elway. We never miss a Bronco game. I listened on the radio to Bob Martin when we couldn’t afford a tv.
The Denver Broncos are the world champs – again!. They did it the old fashioned way, with Defense, ala Orange Crush.
I thought I was happy when T.D ran over the Packers. Then the Broncos won again, beat up on Atlanta the next year. I thought, I had reached nirvana.
But then yesterday. Jeezus. No one, thought the Broncos could win. But I knew if they could get to Cam we’d win. I knew we could cover their receivers and Cam couldn’t beat us by himself.
Jeezus!!!! The Broncos won the Super Bowl!!!!!!
Here’s what Woody Paige wrote in today’s Denver Post:
“The Broncos became the supreme defensive team in NFL postseason history by orange-squeezing three of the league’s paramount offensive units — the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New England Patriots and, ultimately, the Carolina Panthers — and constraining Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady and Cam Newton to only three touchdowns, with just one passing”.
I agree with Woody, the Broncos are the best Defense ever.
God bless Denver and everyone there. I’ll be at the parade tomorrow. And when someone asks me where I’m from it’s not Eagle – it’s Denver. My home town.
